Beating teams that ar befter than you are. If you are a good team, you will probably beat the teams that are worse than you, split with teams as good as you, and lose to teams better than you.  Great teams figure out how to beat teams better than they are.

As a coach or player, you have 5 factors of sport to deal with:

  • technical skills
  • tactical skills
  • physical conditioning
  • mental toughness
  • interpersonal dynamics.

Too great a deficiency in any of these areas and you will never be able to beat teams better than you are.  The first three are commonly looked at. Increasingly, coaches are looking to the last two factors for a competitive edge.  They are criticalcal because a unified team with mental toughness can not only adjust better to the nuances of a particular game or opponent, but can also rapidly improve technically, tactically, and physically.

Think about your practices.  What factors do you spend the majority of your time on?  The Leadership and Education Institute is dedicated to develop mentally tough teams who can beat teams better than they are.  Let us know if a workshop or some advice can help you on your quest for greatness.

We have done workshops in three areas of the season:

Preseason-Bring your team together and see who you have.

Midseason- Adjust your team to finish the season strong.

Postseason- Maximize performance before the big game
