The Erie Dance Conservatory will be offering Ballet, Tap, Jazz and Hip-Hop classes at Family First Sports Park for ages 3-13. The classes will be directed under the instruction of Sarah Purvis and will be held in the Nautilus Fitness Center's fitness studio at Family First Sports Park. The Erie Dance Conservatory Company is dedicated to nurturing growth and development through positive and progressive curriculum. The classes gradually teach students to explore the correlation between their bodies and proper dance technique, placement and coordination- the natural navigation of the body. The semester I classes will be launched at Family First Sports Park on Monday, October 6th.
Monitoring Growth and Development
Our positive atmosphere is a safe haven in which our students can learn the art of dance and develop a fundamental understanding of the form that will allow them to continue to thrive in dance throughout their lives. We gradually teach our students to explore the correlation between their bodies and proper dance technique, placement and coordination– the natural navigation of the body. We offer individuals of all ages the most professional dance training available. As the student begins to advance in these concepts, we allow sufficient time to create self- discipline, confidence and to help foster their passion for dance. EDC strives to challenge students both mentally and physically in order to impart the necessary elements for becoming a professional dancer, supporter of the art form or simply a confident individual.
Meet Sarah Purvis
Erie Dance Conservatory School Director
Ms. Purvis received her early training from the Erie Civic Ballet under the direction of Arlene Ashton Hay, Robert Steele and Sharon Filone. As a dancer, she performed with the Lake Erie Ballet Company in Classical Symphony, Giselle, Swan Lake, Coppelia, Concerto Barocco and The Nutcracker. Sarah is currently the Artistic Director of the Erie Dance Conservatory Company, now in its sixth season. Ms. Purvis is the President-Elect of the Erie Dance Consortium, a celebration of dance in the Erie community, and also holds the position of treasurer for the prestigious Regional Dance America/Northeast, a national organization of dancers, teachers, and choreographers.
