Continental Alliance Memorial Day Tournament More than 250 teams, representing 22 of the country’s best clubs and some of America’s best and brightest youth soccer talent will once again “kick off” the Continental Alliance Cup soccer tournament. Taking place at the Family First Sports Park in Erie, Pennsylvania over Memorial Day weekend—May 25-27, 2002. The Continental Alliance, which began as a loose affiliation of 13 premier clubs in 1994, and has since grown to include 22 of the country’s most well-known and respected clubs. With members from more than 12 states, including Colorado, Ohio, Pennsylvania, New York and Michigan, the tournament has traditionally allowed only a small number of non-alliance teams to participate each year—as more than 80% of the teams participating in the event are member clubs, who must meet consistent performance standards in both state and regional competition. Sponsored by Eurosport®, this elite tournament has drawn national attention from college and professional coaches, as well as players alike, who will be pleased to know that the Family First Sports Park is the “home” of the tournament for the next 3–5 years. The Park has been called “one of the best soccer complexes in the country” by those who have seen it. Special arrangements for select college and professional coaches who would like to attend the event have been made.
