The above illustration is one of a photograph that was taken in the 1960s at the FCA Camp in Black Mountain, North Carolina.
It depicts 4-year-old David Dean “hoping the guys would invite him to play.” David is now a college coach influencing others as he was influenced. The original water color by Arch Unruh of Hallmark Cards, Inc. hangs in the FCA Home Office in Kansas City, Missouri and is the most widely used photograph depicting the FCA movement. Fellowship of Christian Athletes...
The Family First Sports Park is the home of the local Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) office in the tri-state area and host to several of FCA’s National Camps. FCA is the largest youth ministry in the country that for four decades has impacted thousands of coaches and student athletes in junior highs, high schools and colleges across the country. Through a diverse and dynamic outreach program, FCA communicates Faith and Hope in Jesus Christ to athletes and coaches from all backgrounds.
Purpose:
“To present to athletes and coaches and all whom they influence, the challenge and adventure of receiving Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord, serving Him in their relationships and in the fellowship of the church.”
Huddles:
The backbone of FCA’s school program is giving student athletes a positive peer group to nurture Christian growth and service. With Christ the center of the meeting, and using the Bible as the authority, teammates are inspired to improve their spiritual lives and use their influence to challenge others to receive Christ.
Camps:
The camps offer a week of challenge, inspiration and perspiration for athletes and coaches. It’s an opportunity to gain valuable sports skills while growing in the Christian faith.
One Way 2 Play—Drug Free:
One Way 2 Play (OW2P) is a program designed to provide a proactive means of addressing the problem of drug and alcohol abuse, especially among our youth. It provides a platform on which someone can actually—Stand Up and Be Counted! OW2P encourages taking responsibility for one’s own actions—and one’s own life.

Fellowship of Christian Athletes 2002 Camps
Area director of FCA, Wade Salem, serves at carrying out FCA’s purpose in this area and organizing and bringing camps, events and rallies to the Park each year.
